The Black Eyed Peas are due to complete their fifth album, “The E.N.D.,” in London next week. “I’ll be finishing the record Oct. 15,” producer and group member will.i.am tells Billboard.com. Recording sessions have been taking place at Metropolis Studios in London.

The album title is not an indication that it’s intended to be the hip-hop outfit’s final record. “No, no – it stands for ‘The Energy Never Dies,’” explains will.i.am.

Black Eyed Peas’ previous set, 2005’s “Monkey Business” (A&M/Interscope), has sold 4.2 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. “We still have a contract with them,” says will.i.am, adding that the number of albums left to deliver was “not that many.”

Asked about the group’s future relationship with the Universal Music label, will.i.am said, “It all depends on how they evolve, it’s up to them to define what they’re going to be in the future.”

Fergie is excited about adding the role of a prostitute to her acting portfolio.

The Grammy-winning singer has been cast as Saraghina in “Nine,” a big-screen adaptation of the Tony-winning musical. She will perform the saucy song “Be Italian” with Guido, played by Daniel Day-Lewis.

“She’s basically a prostitute on the beach,” Fergie told the Associated Press in an interview. “She introduces him to the world of sexuality. It’s a very strong song. I’m just thrilled I get to play a character.”

Fergie, 33, joins Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench and Kate Hudson in “Nine,” directed by Rob Marshall ("Chicago"). Filming begins in October. Fergie, whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson, had minor roles in the “Poseidon” and “Grindhouse” movies.

Fergie, who released her hit-packed solo album “The Duchess” in 2006, said she’s now in the studio working on a new album with the Black Eyed Peas, their first new record since 2005’s “Monkey Business.”

“It’s a new sound,” she said. “We’re going into the future. We’re not doing the same old thing. We’re not trying to copy what’s out there on the radio.”

Fergie will perform at the The Big E fair, which runs Sept. 12-28, on September 28th. The annual Boston area fair just announced its 2008 lineup on Friday. Fergie has also been announced as a performer for “Fashion Rocks” concert on Setpember 5th. The show is known as the unofficial kick-off to New York’s Fashion Week. This will be the 3rd straight year Fergie has performed. She will do double duty as the Black Eyed Peas will perform as well. (New single?!?!). CBS will air the concert, in a 2 hour special, on September 9th.

Role marks the Grammy-winning singer’s first major role in a bigscreen project. She had a small role in the Weinstein Co.’s “Grindhouse.'’

Fergie will play Saraghina, a lusty woman who introduces Guido (Day-Lewis) to the world of sexuality.

She was proudly flashing her engagement ring at the third annual Cartier Loveday celebration in L.A. on Wednesday, but Fergie remained coy about her wedding plans.

Asked about the best jewelry her fiancé, actor Josh Duhamel, has given her, she pointed to her engagement ring. “Well this one,” she told PEOPLE. “This one is by Duhamel, it’s a special stone and that’s the most amazing one because it means something.”

As for her wedding plans, “I can’t talk about it,” says the singer, 33, who announced her engagement last December. “I know I have a big mouth, but I can’t say. That’s the one thing that I have to hold private.”

The pop star, who sings “Labels or Love” on the Sex and the City movie soundtrack, has both in her life right now. “I’m designing a new line of shoes so I’m excited about that,” she says. “We’re working on logos now, I’m really thrilled about that.”

And she has plans for a follow-up to her smash solo debut, The Dutchess. What’s next? “Getting in the studio,” she says, “making new music.”
